Hi Families!
We have had an amazing week in 5th grade! The students have all been very engaged in learning their states and capitals and eagerly await this coming Thursday when they will put our brave volunteer parents to the test! Also, I invite all parents who may not want to be contestants to be a part of our audience. It is always great to see children showcase their knowledge! If you are interested, please meet us in the library on Thursday at 9:50am.
Secondly, we will be concluding our U.S. Geography unit with a test will on Wednesday. We have talked a lot about smart ways to study the states and capitals by breaking them into smaller parts. It seems to be working based on what I am seeing in class.
Additionally, I wanted to share a great resource with you! It is called Books Should be Free.com. It is a free audio book resource. Feel free to download Little Women or other books that you would like to listen to as a family. Click on the following link to check it out : http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/
Finally, just a quick reminder that we are working hard in 5th grade: bodies and minds. Make sure that your child has extra snacks to eat throughout the day. It is always better to have extra snacks that travel back home then hungry students at the end of the day. I am also adding class snacks to our wish list to help provide snacks to students who forget or need extra snack.
I hope you have a great weekend!
Mrs. Hans
