Hi Families!
We had an amazing day on Friday! Not only did we get to hear from some very knowledgeable Civil War soldiers, we also learned, "Oh Captain, My Captain," and created Freedom Quilt patches! It was a wonderful finale to our unit!
Feel free to ask your child the following questions:
- Why weren't all Civil War uniforms blue or gray?
- What steps were taking by Civil War surgeons to amputate a limb?
- What types of Naval advances were made during the Civil War?
- How much weight did an infantry soldier have to carry?
- How many cavalry horses died compared to soldiers?
- What was the best infantry strategy used by either side that produced more casualties?
