Hooray for Sewing!

In 5th grade, we have many talented students who can sew!  Each student pieced together their own quilt square using hand stitching!  It was quite a sight to behold!

We discussed how families during the Civil War, like the March family would have to buy fabric, cut out all of the pieces and sew them together.  We also discussed how this effected people living in poverty in terms of leaving extra fabric to expand the clothing for growth and the resourceful ideas.
